Transketoláza je klíčový enzym neoxidační větve pentózového cyklu, metabolické dráhy, která při chronické hyperglykémii může odvést kumulující se meziprodukty glykolýzy a zabránit tak pozdním diabetickým komplikacím. The transketolase is the key enzyme of nonoxidative branch of pentose phosphate pathway, metabolic pathway, which can divert cumulating intermediates of glycolysis during chronic hyperglycemia and so it can stop late diabetic complications.
