Downstream grain-size trends of gravel bars of the Odra River tributaries: the Lubina and the Ondřejnice Rivers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vývojem zrnitosti štěrkových lavic od pramene po ústí na dvou levostranných přítocích řeky Odry; Lubině a Ondřejnici. Jako metodika byla použita fotogranulometrická analýza a následná statistická analýza pro porovnání obou řek. Měření probíhalo na 15 lokalitách na řece Lubině a na 16 lokalitách na řece Ondřejnici, kde byly měřeny vrcholové, středové a dolní části štěrkových lavic. Výstupy zrnitosti štěrkových lavic byly hodnoceny v souvislosti s nejčastějšími faktory ovlivňujících chod velikosti sedimentů po proudu. Mezi hlavní závěry patří obecně vyšší hodnoty zrnitostních percentilů na řece Ondřejnici, indikující vyšší dodávku hrubozrnného materiálu, a mimo jiné také skutečnost, že změny zrnitosti štěrkových lavic obou toků jsou významně ovlivněny zdrojnicemi koluviálního a aluviálního materiálu a lokální litologií.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the development of grain size of gravel bars on two left-sided tributaries of the Odra River; Lubina and Ondřejnice. The methodology consisted of using photo-granulometric analysis and subsequently a statistical analysis to compare both rivers. The measurements were carried out at 15 localities on the Lubina River and 16 on the Ondřejnice River, where both ends and the centre of the gravel bars were measured. Grain sizes of gravel bars deposits were evaluated in connection with common factors affecting grain sizes of sediment downstream. The main conclusions are that on the Ondřejnice river are generally higher values of grain size percentiles which can be related to higher number of sources of larger sediment. And also, both rivers are significantly affected by the sources of colluvial and alluvial material and local lithology.
