Utilization of compatibilization and stabilization methods in the recycling of commingled municipal plastic waste

Abstract:

Předložená disertační práce se zabývá optimalizací recyklační metody pomoci vhodného kompatibilizační-stabilizačního systemu, sloužící k zlepšení užitných vlasností získaného recyklátu, tj., mechanické vlasnostni, procesní i světelné stabilitu. Halvními cíli disertační práce tedy bylo: 1. Zkoumání stability jednotlivých polymerních složek vůčí degradačnímu namahání, když jsou podrobené jak tepelnému tak světelnému urychlenému starnutí. 2. Zlepšení mechanických vlasnostní modelových kvarterních blendů podrobených simulované recyklací pomocí kooperativního kompatibilizačního systemu založen na bazi vhodých kompatibilizatorů a procesního stabilizatoru. 3. Dodateční zlepšení světelné stability modelových blendů nasledně podrobených dalšímu světelnému starnutí. Vliv aplikace vhodných světelných stabilizatorů v kombinaci se sazí je proukoumán.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to find a optimal recycling procedure which involves suitable compatibilization and stabilization methods imparting both enhanced mechanical properties, processing, and light stability to the resulting recyclate. The scope of the present dissertation comprises three sections. 1. Assessment of the degradation behavior of individual plastic components when exposed to artificial thermal and photochemical aging. 2. Upgrading mechanical properties in order to meet second application requirements. To achieve this, model quaternary blends (LDPE/HDPE/PP/HIPS) based on pre-aged homopolymers were compatibilized by a mixture of commercially available styrene-butadiene block copolymers (SB) with ethylene-propylene elastomers (EPR). In order to ensure the processing and long-term stability a secondary amine stabilizer: trade name Dusantox (Dus) was added. 3. Enhancing photo-stability in model quarternary pre-aged blends that are subjected to posterior aging. Here, the effect of commercial HALS stabilizer Tinuvin 770DF and of carbon black on the properties of the blends is evaluated
