Dopady mezinárodního obchodu na hospodářský rozvoj v subsaharské Africe

Abstract:

Tato studie zkoumá dopady mezinárodního obchodu na ekonomický vývoj subsaharské Afriky. Pro výpočet obchodní bilance, která je v této práci vyjádřena procenty hrubého domácího produktu a indexu lidského rozvoje, byly použité údaje Světové banky a Organizace spojených národů. Obchodní bilance v této práci zastupuje mezinárodní obchod, zatímco index lidského rozvoje zastupuje ekonomický rozvoj. Fyzické kontroly dat pomocí histogramů, korelačních diagramů a kvantilově-kvantilových grafů poukázaly na možnost existence lineární regrese. Při testování hypotézy t-testem ale regresní analýza ukázala, že na předpoklad existence lineárního vztahu mezi mezinárodním obchodem a ekonomickým rozvojem není dostatečné množství důkazů.Při dalších testech, během kterých byl snížen koeficient spolehlivosti a odpovídající hladiny významnosti, byla zjištěna slabá pozitivní asociace mezi mezinárodním obchodem a ekonomickým rozvojem. Regresní koeficient se blížil nule a naznačoval tedy, že dopady mezinárodního obchodu na ekonomický rozvoj jsou mizivé, pokud vůbec nějaké.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the impacts that international trade has on the economic development of Sub-Saharan Africa. Trade balance was used as a proxy for international trade while HDI was used as a proxy for economic development. Secondary data for trade balance as a percentage of GDP and HDI were sampled from the World Bank and the UN respectively. The physical checks of the data using histograms, a scatter plot, and Q-Q plots indicated the possibility of linear regression. Using the t-test to test the hypothesis, the regression analysis, however, indicated that there is insufficient evidence to assume a linear relationship between international trade and economic development.Interestingly, further tests using a reduced confidence level and a corresponding significance level showed a weak positive association between international trade and economic development. The regression coefficient, being closer to 0, suggested that if any, the impacts that international trade has on economic development is insignificant.
