Home care in Czech republic in the years 2008-2015 and its potential from the point of view of the healthcare holding

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je vypracování podnikatelského plánu pro vstup jedné z největších českých zdravotnických skupin do odvětví domácí péče v ČR a získání významného tržního podílu. V teoretické části autor popisuje současný způsob fungování a financování domácí péče v ČR a její vývoj v letech 2008-2015, pro která jsou k dispozici relevantní data. Výdaje na domácí péči v tomto období vzrostly o téměř 60 %. Zároveň se ukazuje, že odvětví domácí péče má do budoucna zejména z hlediska demografického vývoje a západních států výrazný potenciál. V návaznosti na to je provedena analýza zahraničních společností s významným tržním podílem v daném odvětví, jejímž cílem je pochopení obchodních strategií těchto podniků. Tyto strategie jsou postaveny především na realizaci synergií s ostatními oblastmi jejich podnikání. V poslední části je zhodnocena možnost úspor z rozsahu, vypočteny potenciální synergie se s ostatními segmenty podnikání skupiny a je představen vhodný model pro její vstup do odvětví. Úspory z rozsahu i potenciální synergie v oblasti domácí péče se však ukazují jako nedostatečné. Vstup skupiny do odvětví tedy nelze z ekonomického hlediska obhájit. Téma práce je v kontextu ČR zcela jedinečné a k jeho zpracování jsou použity nejen veřejně dostupné zdroje a interní údaje společnosti, ale i poznatky získané během obchodních jednání a osobních rozhovorů se sestrami v domácí péče a praktickými lékaři.

Abstract:

The aim of this Master's thesis is to develop a business plan for the entry of one of the largest Czech healthcare groups to the home health care sector in the Czech Republic and capturing a significant market share. In the theoretical part, the author describes the current way of functioning and financing of home care in the Czech Republic and its development in 2008-2015. Relevant data is available only for this period. Home care spending rose by almost 60 % during this period. At the same time, it appears that the home care sector has a significant potential in the future from the perspective of demographic change and Western countries. This is followed by an analysis of foreign companies with a significant market share in the industry in order to understand the business strategies of these companies. These strategies are primarily based on synergies with other areas of their business. The last part evaluates the possibility of economies of scale, calculates potential synergies with other business segments of the group and introduces a suitable model for its entry into the sector. However, economies of scale and potential synergies in home care do not seem to be sufficient. Therefore, the group's entry into the sector cannot be justified from an economic point of view. The theme of the thesis is completely unique in the context of the Czech Republic, and it uses not only the public resources and internal data of the company, but also the knowledge gained during business negotiations and personal interviews with nurses in home care and general practitioners.
