Brownfields and old ecological burdens of the Ostrava region from perspective of environmental stress

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na vyhodnocení míry kontaminace brownfieldových ploch v Ostravském regionu. Rešeršní část práce je zaměřena na samotnou definici termínu brownfield, kategorizaci brownfieldů podle různých klasifikačních systémů, nejčastější kontaminanty, nacházející se na brownfieldových plochách a možnosti regenerace těchto ploch z hlediska in situ a ex situ remediací. V rámci experimentální části byly provedeny kontaktní testy na organismech žížala hnojní (Eisenia foetida) a locika setá (Lactuca sativa L.), a aquatické testy na organismech hořčice bílá (Sinapis alba) a okřehek menší (Lemna minor). Tyto testy byly provedeny nejdříve se standardními látkami (dichroman draselný, kyselina boritá) a poté s reálnými vzorky půd.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on evaluation of brownfield contamination rate in Ostrava region. The research part of the thesis is focused on the definition of the term brownfield itself, the categorization of brownfields according to different classification systems, the most common contaminants found on brownfield areas and the possibilities of regeneration of these areas in terms of in situ and ex situ remediation. The experimental part of the thesis describes contact tests on earthworm (Eisenia foetida) and lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.), and aquatic tests on white mustard (Sinapis alba) and common duckweed (Lemna minor). These tests were first carried out on standard substances (potassium dichromate, boric acid) and then on real soil samples.
