Outdoor activity as a factor forming the relation to the protected area: an example of rock climbing in the Protected Landscape Area Bohemian Paradise

Abstract:

Chráněná krajinná oblast Český ráj je první chráněnou oblastí na našem území, byla vyhlášena již v roce 1955. Skálolezci ale na tomto území začali lézt již mnohem dříve. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tím, jak skálolezci vnímají území Českého ráje. Cílem je identifikovat obraz, jaký mají skálolezci o území CHKO Český ráj a jaké faktory se na tom podílejí. Data pro praktickou část diplomové práce byla získána metodou semi-standardizovaného rozhovoru s lezci, kteří byli vybráni na základě metody sněhové koule, doplňkovou metodou bylo také zúčastněné pozorování a kreslení mentální mapy. Touto prací bylo zjištěno, že názory a pohled mladší a starší generace se v několika faktorech rozchází, ale na většině odpovědí se generace shodly. Český ráj vnímají jako svůj domov, řada lezců z Ráje pochází, někteří se sem přestěhovali a jiní zde zatím jen chalupaří. Faktory, které se podílí na jejich vnímání této oblasti, jsou přátelství, které je neodmyslitelně spojeno s lezením, především u starší generace, dále příroda, kterou v Českém ráji považují za unikátní a jedinečnou, dalším faktorem je jejich prospěšná činnost, kterou dávají najevo, jak silné citové pouto k místu mají. To, jak vnímají Český ráj, se odvíjí i od toho, že jim není lhostejné, když někdo nedodržuje pravidla pískovcového lezení a nemá k oblasti úctu.

Abstract:

The Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area is the first protected area in our territory, it was declared in 1955. But rock climbers started climbing in this area much earlier. This diploma thesis deals with how rock climbers perceive the territory of the Bohemian Paradise. The aim is to identify the image that rock climbers have about the territory of the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area and what factors contribute to it. Data for the practical part of the diploma thesis were obtained by the method of semi-standardized interview with climbers, which were selected on the basis of the snowball method, an additional method was also participatory observation and drawing a mental map. With this work, it was found that the opinions and views of the younger and scared generations differ in several respects, but in many opinions they also agreed. They perceive the Bohemian Paradise as their home, many climbers come from Paradise, some have moved here and others are just cottagers. Factors that contribute to their perception of this area is friendship, which is inextricably linked to climbing, especially in the older generation, as well as nature, which in the Bohemian Paradise is considered unique and unique, another factor is their beneficial activity, which show how strong an emotional attachment they have to the place. How they perceive the Bohemian Paradise also stems from the fact that they are not indifferent when someone does not follow the rules of sandstone climbing and has no respect for the area.
