This thesis describes basic features and principles of SVG markup language, its support in browsers. It deals with usage of SVG markup language for web cartography. The thesis also insists on possible aproaches to SVG applications development, combination of XHTML and SVG and usage of SVG markup language for cartographic symbolization.
