The social themes in the work of Konstantinos Theotokis

Abstract:

The main aim of my Bachelor thesis is analysis of the social themes in the work of Konstantinos Theotokis (1872-1923). Represented in the first part of the thesis is the situation in literature at the end of 19th century and beginning of the 20th. Characterized are the main trends and influences during this time period - realism, ithografia, naturalism. In the second part I’m presenting the life and the work of the writer. The third, main part of the thesis is devoted to analysis of the novel Η Τιμή και το Χρήμα (Honour and Money, 1922), concentrating on the chosen themes, such as – status of the woman; class; marriage across classes; political themes; socialistic ideology.

Abstract:

Hlavným cieľom mojej práce je analýza sociálnej tematiky v diele Konštantína Theotokisa (1872-1923). V prvej časti práce je predstavená situácia v literatúre na prelome 19. a 20. storočia a charakterizované jednotlivé smery a vplyvy (realizmus, ithografia, naturalizmus). V druhej časti sa venujem životu a dielu autora. V tretej, hlavnej časti je analyzovaná novela Η Τιμή και το Χρήμα (Česť a peniaze, 1922) na základe vybraných tém – postavenie ženy, triedne rozdelenie, medzitriedny sobáš, politická tematika, socialistická ideológia.
