Abstract:

The thesis named "The Identity Quest in the American Space in the Work of Nicolas Dickner" deals with the books of this Canadian author, specifically : Nikolski, Six degrees of Freedom and Tarmac. It observes the characters of these novels, analyses their identity crisis and puts them in the context of today's post-modern society. At the same time it's concentrated on the North American continent, on its influence on the rest of the world and on the space in general, how it effects people and how we can perceive it.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce "Hledání identity v americkém prostoru u Nicolase Dicknera" pojednává o románech tohoto kanadského spisovatele, a to konkrétně : Nikolski, Six degrés de liberté a Tarmac. Zkoumá postavy těchto děl, rozebírá jejich identitární krize a dává je do kontextu k aktuální postmoderní společnosti. Zároveň se soustředí na severoamerický kontinent, na jeho vliv na zbytek světa a na prostor obecně, jak člověka ovlivňuje a jak ho lze vnímat.
