Dialogue as a Path to a Human Being. Martin Buber and Others.

Abstract:

Práce představuje dva typy pojetí rozhovoru. Na jedné straně stojí rozhovor jako "nástroj", jehož prostřednictvím lze dospět k poznání, či ovlivnit partnera v komunikaci. Tento postoj je blízký antickým myslitelům, stejně tak jako novodobému pohledu na rozhovoru. Na straně druhé stojí "rozhovor jako cesta k člověku". Takovýto způsob komunikace je blízký tradici "filosofů dialogu", kteří proklamovali "opravdový vztah" k druhému jako partnera komunikace, jako cíl, nikoli prostředek.

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to introduce two different kinds of dialogue. On one hand, dialogue is approached as an "instrument" of transmitting information or as a means to manipulating other people. This conception is not focused on my partner in communication. They are the only means to knowledge or things. This point of view on dialogue is close to that of ancient thinkers. In the present day, when bookstores are full of books about the topic of "manipulative techniques", we can see this point of view in explication. On the other hand dialogue can be approached as a ?path to a human being?. To have a ?real relationship? means to accept my partner in communication as a human being, to attribute value to them. This conception is a view of a group of philosophers, the ?philosophers of dialogue?. For them, a man is not the means but the end.
