Baptize or not baptize? Qualitative research of parents' decision-making process

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá pohledem na křest malých dětí u vybraného vzorku členů navštěvujících evangelický sbor v Gutech. Práce se skládá z teoretické a praktické části. V teoretické části bude představena definice pojmu křtu jakožto přechodového rituálu, jeho vznik a vývoj v historii, význam a jeho možné podoby. Praktická část vychází z kvalitativního výzkumu, provedeném v daném konkrétním sboru. Cílem této práce bylo získat informace a odpovědi na otázky týkajících se vnímaní křtu členy sboru, míry významu či důležitosti, motivů k tomuto procesu a jejich celkový pohled na zkoumaný jev.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the view of the baptism of young children in a selected sample of members attending the evangelical congregation in Guty. The thesis consists of a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, I will introduce the definition of the concept of baptism as a rite of passage, its origin and development in history, meaning and its possible forms. The practical part is based on qualitative research carried out directly in the particular congregation. The aim of this work was to obtain information and answers to questions concerning the perception of baptism by members of the congregation, the degree of significance or importance, the motives for this process and their overall view of the phenomenon under investigation.
