Music on Borders

Abstract:

Diplomová práce seznamuje čtenáře s tématem „hudby na hranicích“, které odkazuje k aplikaci hudebních aktivit a muzikoterapie na hranicích oborů (zejména pak sociální pedagogiky, muzikoterapie, hudebních věd a dalších) a to na příkladu multikulturní oblasti žadatelů o azyl, tedy osob překračujících hranice různých států i svých vlastních kultur. V rámci tohoto tématu se v práci zabývám základním teoretickým vymezením, vysvětluji a objasňuji pojmy migrace, uprchlictví a muzikoterapie použité v práci, obecně seznamuji s historií migrace (s větším důrazem na území našeho státu) a s legislativní stránkou uprchlictví. Současně s tím se snažím přiblížit i obecné metodické přístupy v ČR nově vznikajícího oboru muzikoterapie, mezi jehož aplikační pole spadá i multikulturní a uprchlická problematika. Jak z práce vyplývá, muzikoterapie může napomoci při stavbě komunikačního mostu mezi azylanty a majoritní společností. V práci popisuji také kvalitativní výzkum k tomuto tématu, jenž byl prováděn v hudební dílně v Přijímacím středisku v Zastávce u Brna. Cílem tohoto výzkumu bylo odkrýt význam hudebních aktivit při práci s klienty hudební dílny - žadateli o azyl. Data pro výzkum byla získávána zúčastněnými pozorováními a polo-strukturovanými rozhovory a následně analyzována otevřeným kódováním a technikou „vyložení karet“. Po rozboru jsou v práci předloženy výsledky výzkumu a závěry užitečné pro další praxi v této oblasti.

Abstract:

This thesis acquaints readers with a theme of „music on borders“, which refers to application of music activities and music therapy on borders of disciplines (such as social education, music therapy, musical science, etc.) and within an example of a multicultural area of asylum seekers, who are crossing not even the borders of different states, but also of their own culture. In this theme framework the thesis deals with theoretical grounds of the problem, with an explanation of basic terms of migration, refugees and music therapy. Moreover, in general speaks about history of migration (with an accent on the territory of Czech Republic) and about the legislative aspect of refugee status. Furthermore, I am informing about general methodical approaches of music therapy, which is newly establishing therapeutical field in Czech Republic and contains in its application area also the multicultural and refugees problematic. From the thesis results we can conclude that music therapy can be helpful in the construction of the communication bridge between refugees and the majority. In the second part of this thesis I refer about a qualitative research, which was held in the music workshop room in Reception centre Zastavka, which is situated near Brno city. This research was aiming to discover a significance of musical activities within the work with clients (asylum seekers) in this music workshop room. The data were acquired through the methods of participant observation and semi-structured interviews. Finally, the data were analysed by an open coding and by a technique of „ cards interpretation “. The results and conclusions, which might be useful for other persons working practically in this field area, are described at the end of thesis.
