The challenges of perceiving and implementing frugal innovation in the European market

Abstract:

Tato studie zkoumá vnímání a výzvy týkající se implementace hospodárných inovací na evropském trhu. Šetrné inovace jsou považovány za metodu snižování prostředků a nákladů k nimž dochází pomocí zjednodušení potřeb uživatelů na úroveň základních funkcí. Za tímto účelem musí být řešení vyvíjena vědomě a s přihlédnutím k omezením, která jsou založena na principu otevřené inovace a otevřenosti k světu. Společnosti a podnikatelé tomu postupem času přizpůsobili koncept hospodárnosti evropské problematiky a přikládají této otázce nejen sociální, ale i environmentální význam.Tato práce vychází z kvalitativního výzkumu, jehož výsledkem byla identifikace sedmi překážek využívání úsporných inovací na evropském trhu. Těmi jsou: vnímání a uvědomění si konceptu hospodárnosti; degradace image značky; mentality v rámci společnosti; jeho struktura; riziko neziskovosti; nákupní zvyklosti evropských spotřebitelů a legislativní překážky.Nicméně přitažlivost šetrných inovací by se mohla zvýšit v důsledku nedávné krizi ve zdravotnictví, která otřásla nejen spotřebiteli, ale i společnostmi.

Abstract:

This study explores the perception and challenges of implementation of frugal innovation on the European market. Frugal innovation is a method of reducing a solution to the core functionalities of the user's need, thus saving resources and costs. To this end, solutions must be developed in a conscious manner, taking into account constraints, based on a spirit of open innovation and openness to the world. Companies and entrepreneurs have adapted the concept of frugality to European issues, and they attach not only social but also environmental values to it. This paper therefore draws on a qualitative survey to identify seven barriers to the use of frugal innovation in the European market. These are: perception and awareness of the concept of frugality; degradation of brand image; mentalities within a company; its structure; the risk of non-profitability; European consumer purchasing habits and legislative obstacles.However, the attractiveness of frugal innovation could increase as a result of the recent health crisis that has shaken consumers and companies.

Cette étude explore la perception et les difficultés d'implémentation de l'innovation frugale sur le territoire européen. L'innovation frugale est un procédé qui consiste à réduire une solution aux fonctionnalités essentielles du besoin de l'utilisateur, ce qui permet d'économiser des ressources et des coûts. À cette fin, les solutions doivent être élaborées de manière consciente, en tenant compte des contraintes, en s'appuyant sur un esprit d'innovation ouverte et d'ouverture sur le monde. Les entreprises et les entrepreneurs ont adapté le concept de frugalité aux enjeux européens, et lui accordent des valeurs non seulement sociales mais aussi environnementales. Ce mémoire s’est donc appuyé sur une enquête qualitative afin de déterminer sept freins à l’utilisation de l’innovation frugale sur le marché européen. Ceux-ci sont : la perception et notoriété du concept de frugalité ; la dégradation de l’image de marque ; les mentalités au sein d’une entreprise ; sa structure ; le risque de non-profitabilité ; les habitudes d’achat du consommateur européen et les freins législatifs.Cependant l’attractivité de l’innovation frugale pourrait s’accroître du fait de la récente crise sanitaire ayant bouleversé consommateurs et entreprises.
