VANĚK PLAYS - Four playwrights and Ferdinand Vaněk

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se soustřeďuje na analýzu souboru devíti divadelních her, které spojuje přítomnost dramatické postavy Ferdinanda Vaňka. Tato dramatická postava se poprvé objevuje roku 1975 v Audienci, jednoaktové hře Václava Havla. V následujících deseti letech s ní pracují další tři autoři: Pavel Kohout, Pavel Landovský a Jiří Dienstbier. Jádrem této diplomové práce je rozbor a popis základních rozdílů v užití postavy Ferdinanda Vaňka u jednotlivých dramatiků. Tato analýza je doplněna o stručný vhled do kulturně-politické situace v době vzniku dramat, životopisy jednotlivých autorů, které akcentují především determinaci autorského stylu, a konečnou syntézu poznatků. V rámci syntézy poznatků jsou odděleny původní Havlovy hry od her ostatních dramatiků. Stěžejní teze jsou podloženy konkrétními ukázkami textu. Vlastní rozbor je doplněn dostupnými pohledy českých i zahraničních literárních kritiků a teoretiků.

Abstract:

The main aim of this diploma thesis is to explore the set of nine dramas joined by the character of Ferdinand Vaněk. This character first appeared in 1975 in Audience, Václav Havel?s one act play. In the following ten years it was used in the plays of three more authors, Pavel Kohout, Pavel Landovský and Jiří Dienstbier, who all were members of the Czech dissent, a parallel communication space to official culture in the communistic era. The complex of the plays traditionally contains three plays written by Havel - Audience (1975), Unveiling (1975) and Protest (1978), two plays by Landovský - Arrest (1978) and Sanitation night (1976), three plays by Kohout - Permitt (1978), Morass (1981) and Safari (1985), and one play by Dienstbier - Reception (1984). This work analyses all the plays trying to describe the basic differences in the use of the Vaněk character. To provide a complex presentation of the dramas the work also contains a brief insight into the specific normalization period which was the latest part of the communistic era. Except of the historical circumstances the plays are also influenced by the individual experience of the authors. For that reason the detailed biografical reviews are included. All the important findings are summed up and commented in the concluding synthesis. The diploma thesis is based primarily on it?s author?s opinion supported by literary critics and essays.
