The evaluation of spiritual needs of the elderly in an institutional care

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit důležitost a naplněnost duchovních potřeb seniorů využívajících institucionální péči. Dále pak zjistit nejdůležitější duchovní potřeby seniorů v institucionální péči a zjistit jejich naplněnost. Metodika: Výzkumné šetření probíhalo od listopadu 2014 do prosince 2014. Do výzkumného souboru bylo zařazeno 130 seniorů z šesti institucionálních zařízení. Dotazník obsahoval otázky zjišťující identifikační údaje osob doplněné o otázky zaměřené na vnímání bolesti. K hodnocení naplněnosti a důležitosti potřeb byl použit převzatý dotazník spirituálních potřeb sestaven z 28 otázek, rozčleněn do 8 domén. Výsledky: Nejdůležitější duchovní potřebou se u seniorů stala potřeba mít zajištěnou důstojnou péči o tělesné potřeby. Tato potřeba byla také nejvíce saturovanou v doméně Láska/respekt. Potřeba mít pravdivé informace o svém zdravotním stavu a potřeba být v přírodě a ocenit její krásu, nebyly příliš naplněné. Pro věřící osoby mají potřeby náboženství vyšší důležitost, než pro nevěřící. V oblasti náboženství byla prokázána společná potřeba v duchovní oblasti s narůstajícím věkem. Vzávislosti na intenzitě bolesti roste důležitost duchovních potřeb týkajících se otázek smrti a umírání a klesá naplněnost duchovních potřeb v doméně Smysl života. Nebyla prokázána souvislost mezi vnímáním bolesti respondentů a naplněností potřeb. Závěr: Na základě identifikace duchovních potřeb můžeme přispět k efektivnímu poskytování služeb s holistickým přístupem a navrhnout zásahy, které zlepší ošetřovatelskou péči o seniory v institucionálním zařízení.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this work was to find out the importance and fulfilment of spiritual needs of seniors using institutional care. Next to secure the most important spiritual needs of seniors in institutional care and find out their fulfilment. Methodology: The research was done from November 2014 to |December 2014. In the research took part 130 seniors from six institutional organisations. The questionnaire included questions for finding out identification information of people accompanied by questions concentrated on perception of pain. For evaluation of fulfilment and importance of needs was used adopted questionnaire of spiritual needs made from 28 questions, divided into 8 domains. Results: The most important spiritual need at seniors was the need to have secured respectable care of their physical needs, this need was also the most saturated in the domain called Love/Respect. The need to have true information about their state ofhealth, to be in the nature and appreciate its beauty was not very filled. For believer are things connected with religious more important than for atheist. There was proved connection in religious questions with increasing age in the sphere of religious. In connection with the intensity of pain is increasing the importance ofspiritual needs in the circle of questions connected with death and dying and is decreasing fulfilment of spiritual needs in the domain called The Sense of life. There was not proved connection between perception of pain of respondents and fulfilment of needs. Conclusion: On the base of identification of religious needs we can contribute to effective providing of services with holistic attitude and intervention which will improve nursing care of seniors in institutional institutions.
