The potential for development of venture capital in the Czech republic

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce je zhodnocení současné situace na trhu venture kapitálu v České republice a doporučení pro jeho budoucí rozvoj. První část práce objasňuje teoretické vymezení pojmu rizikový kapitál a charakterizuje formy jeho podpory. Druhá a třetí část analyzují podpůrná opatření financování investic pomocí rizikového kapitálu a jejich důsledek na ekonomiku v Izraeli a Spojených státech amerických jakožto předních základnách rizikového kapitálu ve světě. Poslední část se snaží identifikovat slabé stránky trhu venture kapitálu v České republice a důvody nerozvinutosti zmíněného financování. Zabývá se také hodnocením potenciálu venture kapitálu a navrhuje aplikaci zahraničních opatření, která by následně vedla k intenzivnějšímu využívání financování inovativních projektů rizikovým kapitálem.

Abstract:

The object of this final thesis is to assess the current situation in the Czech Republic's capital venture market. It also gives recommendations for the market's future expansion. The first part explains the term venture capital and characterises its different forms and support. The second and third parts analyse any supporting measures of financial investment when using venture capital and the impact of these measures on the economy in Israel and USA, which are the leading hubs in the world. The final section identifies weak points in the Czech Republic's venture capital market and gives the reasons for the lack of progress in financing. The final part also evaluates the potential of venture capital and recommends the application of international measures, which would lead to more intense usage of financial support for innovative projects by risk capital.
