Psychological problems in people with obesity

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou obezity, která dnes, ve 21. století, nabyla rozměrů pandemie. Práce se zaměřuje na psychické problémy obézních občanů. Snaží se proniknout do faktu, zda má psychika vliv na vznik obezity, která je v důsledku psychického diskomfortu podporována zvýšeným příjmem kalorií, nebo zda psychický diskomfort je jednou z příčin vzniku obezity. Cílem práce bylo zjistit míru psychického diskomfortu u obézních pacientů. Dílčí otázkou byla hledána odpověď, zda a v jaké míře je v souvislosti s obezitou těmto pacientům nabízena psychologická péče. V první, teoretické části, jsou popsána historická fakta obezity, její klinické dělení a faktory, které ovlivňují nárůst obezity, a dále je popsána psychologická péče související s obezitou a problémy, jež s sebou obezita přináší ať v oblasti společenské, socio-ekonomické či psychosociální, tak v oblasti ryze intimní, jako je oblast sexuální. Teoretická část poukazuje na jednotlivá fakta a důsledky související s obezitou a vztahující se k ní. Druhá, praktická část, je podložena průzkumem, který byl vytvořen na základě dotazníkového šetření. Bylo rozdáno 100 kusů dotazníků. Dotazník měl 28 otázek. Z toho byly 24 otázky uzavřené a 4 otevřené. Výsledky dotazníkového šetření byly zpracovány do grafů a uvedeny v praktické části s vysvětlením u každé otázky. Průzkum potvrdil, že obézní lidé trpí v souvislosti se svou obezitou psychickými problémy a rovněž bylo potvrzeno, že psychologická péče je sice těmto lidem poskytována, ale jen v minimální míře.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of obesity, which has become pandemic in the 21st century. This thesis focuses on the psychological problems in obese. The aim of my thesis was to find out the degree of mental discomfort in obese patients. The partial question goal was to find out an answer whether and to what extent psychological care is offered to these patients - in connection with their obesity or with a help during their weight loss attempts. The first, theoretical part, describes the historical facts of obesity, its clinical sorting and the factors that influence the increase of obesity. It also describes psychological care in the context of obesity and the problems that obesity brings either in social, socio-economic or psychosocial fields as well as in the area of purely intimate - as a sexual area. The theoretical part is basically informative and points to particular facts related to obesity. The second, practical part, is based on a survey that was created on the basis of a questionnaire survey. 100 pieces of questionnaires were distributed. The questionnaire contained 28 questions. 24 of them were closed and 4 were opened. The results of the questionnaire survey were elaborated into charts and presented in the practical part with an explanation for each question. The survey confirmed that obese people suffer from psychological problems related to their obesity, and it was also confirmed that psychological care is provided to these people minimally.
