Solvency II and Impact on the Czech Insurance Market

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou solventnosti subjektů působících na pojistných trzích, především v souvislosti s přípravou nové metodiky vykazování solventnosti, známé jako Solvency II. Práce vysvětluje příčiny a principy regulace pojistného trhu, stručně uvádí historii regulace v ČR a její legislativní rámec, popisuje výkon dohledu nad pojistným trhem. Podrobněji se práce zabývá současným stavem vykazování solventnosti, tedy metodikou Solvency I a jejími nedostatky, které jsou zároveň příčinami vzniku Solvency II, architektura Solvency II je v práci popsána. Práce se rovněž zabývá realizovanými kvantitativními dopadovými studiemi, shrnuje jejich výsledky. Dopady Solvency II jsou prezentovány na výsledcích konkrétní pojišťovny. V závěru práce je provedeno kritické zhodnocení předpokládaných dopadů Solvency II na pojistný trh.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the solvency of the subjects operating in the insurance markets, firstly in connection with the preparation of a new solvency reporting methodology known as Solvency II. The thesis explains the causes and principles of the regulation of the insurance market, it states briefly the history of the regulation in The Czech Republic and its legislative framework, it describes the performance of the supervision of the insurance market. The thesis deals with the present state of solvency reporting in detail, thus with the metodology of Solvency I and its deficiencies which are at the same time the cause of the creation of Solvency II. The architecture of Solvency II is described there as well. The thesis also deals with implemented Quantitative Impact Studies, it summarizes their results. The impacts of Solvency II are presented in the results of a particular insurance company. In conclusion the critical evaluation of hypothetical impacts of Solvency II on the insurance market is carried out.
