The lifetime of Jewes in Ostrava. Social-cultural and historical aspects

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis ?Life of Jews in Ostrava, sociological and cultural aspects? deals with the history of the Jewish population in the city of Ostrava and their coexistence with other non-Jewish citizens. The aim of this thesis is to provide the reader information about the arrival of Jews in Ostrava, their settlement, the most important landmarks and personalities, but most importantly about hard times especially the Second World War, when German troops led by Adolf Hitler lynched and destroyed everything reminiscent of the Jewish nation and everything connected with it, everything that was not of Aryan origin. They heartlessly marked all Jewish citizens as inferior race, murdered them and transported to concentration camps and those who were lucky were abused as slaves and servants. The whole thesis covers a large part of information from the literature available in the archives of the city of Ostrava and specialized department libraries, books on Jewish issues, and Internet links that are focused on these historical events. In the attachments you can find a few photos from the visit to the most important and most significant places in the city of Ostrava and information about them.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce Život Židů v Ostravě, sociologicko-kulturní aspekty se zabývá historií židovského obyvatelstva na území města Ostravy a jejich soužitím s ostatními nežidovskými občany. Cílem této práce je přiblížit čtenáři informace o příchodu Židů do Ostravy, jejich osídlení a zabydlení, nejvýznamnějších památek a osobností, ale hlavně o těžkých dobách především z období druhé světové války, kdy němečtí vojáci na nařízení vůdce Adolfa Hitlera lynčovali a ničili vše, co jen trochu připomínalo židovský národ a vše s ním spojené, vše, co nebylo árijského původu. Bezcitně označovali židovské občany za podřadnou rasu, vraždili a transportovali je do koncentračních táborů a ti, co měli štěstí, byli zneužíváni jako otroci a služebníci. Celá práce zahrnuje z velké části informace z literatury dostupné pouze v archivu města Ostravy a specializovaných oddělení knihoven, odborných publikací o židovské problematice a internetových odkazů, které jsou zaměřeny na tyto historické události. V části příloh je přiloženo několik fotografií z návštěvy těch nejdůležitějších a nejvýznamnějších míst města Ostravy a informace o nich.
