Diagnostic of pigmented skin lesions using HSV colour model

Abstract:

The aim of the rigorous thesis is to continue the topic of the diagnosis of pigmented lesions, which was elaborated in the diploma thesis entitled Pigmented skin lesions and their diagnosis. The theoretical part describes the process of skin pigmentation and risk factors. It also provides an overview of benign melanocytic nevi, other benign skin lesions, precancers and malignant skin tumours. It processes the clinical appearance, etiopathogenesis and characteristic features of individual lesions. Subsequently, it mentions currently available non-invasive diagnostic methods and characteristic diagnostic features of individual lesions. The practical part is aimed to verify the methodology from the abovementioned diploma thesis, which classified skin colour based on the obtained average values of the colour spectrum of the HSV model. This time, the methodology of the work was tested on dermatoscopic images of pigmented lesions from the average values of the HSV colour spectrum components. Pigmented lesions were also analysed by geometric parameter circularity.

Abstract:

Cieľom rigoróznej práce je pokračovanie v téme diagnostiky pigmentových lézií, ktorá bola spracovaná v diplomovej práci s názvom Pigmentové kožní léze a jejich diagnostika. Teoretická časť popisuje proces pigmentácie kože a faktory, ktoré ju ovplyvňujú. Ďalej uvádza prehľad benígnych melanocytárnych névov, ďalších benígnych kožných lézií, prekanceróz a malígnych kožných nádorov. Spracováva klinický vzhľad, etiopatogenézu a charakteristické znaky jednotlivých lézií. Následne spomína v súčasnosti dostupné neinvazívne metódy diagnostiky a charakteristické diagnostické znaky jednotlivých lézií. Praktická časť je zameraná na overenie metodiky z vyššie spomínanej diplomovej práce, ktorá klasifikovala farbu kože na základe získaných priemerných hodnôt farebného spektra HSV modelu. Metodika práce bola tentoraz skúšaná na dermatoskopických snímkach pigmentových lézií z priemerných hodnôt zložiek farebného spektra HSV. Pigmentové lézie boli taktiež analyzované pomocou geometrického parametru kruhovitosť.
