Using a minicomputer as a Multimedia station in public libraries.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce přibližuje definici veřejných knihoven a jejich rozdělení. Vysvětluje důležitost jejich významu a nezastupitelnou roli v oblasti vzdělávání a informačního přínosu pro společnost obecně. Dále se zaměřuje na vybranou knihovnu a její vybavení, zejména v rámci výpočetní techniky. Nejen po hardwarové, ale i softwarové stránce. Po analýze stávajícího výpočetního vybavení hledá prostor pro uplatnění nové technologie v podobě minipočítače. Posuzuje hlavní přínosy takového řešení, včetně možných finančních úspor.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis describes the definition of public libraries and their dividing. It explains importance of their significance and indispensable role in education and information benefits for society generally. It also focuses on selected library and its facilities, especially in the computing context. It concerns not only hardware but also software. After previous analysis of the existing computer equipment this thesis is looking for space for the application of new technology in the form of minicomputers. It assesses the main benefits of such solutions, including possible financial savings.
