Pohlavní chromozomy hrají nezastupitelnou roli v determinaci pohlaví a vyskytují se u celé řady taxonů. Ačkoli mají rozdílnou evoluční historii, procesy, které pohlavní chromozomy utvářejí, jsou podobné napříč říší rostlin, živočichů i hub. Abstract:
The sex chromosomes occurred in many taxa and have an irreplaceable role in the sex determination. Although the sex chromosomes occurred independently in plants, animals, and some fungi, they underwent similar evolutionary processes such as recombination suppression, deleterious mutations accumulation, genetic degeneration, and dosage compensation.
