Mobilisation against the construction of Bauhaus. Framing of Movement and Counter-movement.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou rámování sociálního hnutí a kontra-hnutí, které vznikly během plánované stavby hobbymarketu v Brně-Ivanovicích. Práce se odvíjí od teorie rámování, přičemž prvním krokem je identifikace odpůrců jako sociální hnutí a zastánců stavby jako kontra-hnutí, které se vůči nim mobilizovalo. V tomto aspektu staví práce na definici sociálního hnutí od Dianiho (1992) a kontra-hnutí od Meyera se Staggenborgovou (1996). V další kapitole teoretické části práce představuje teorii rámování, přičemž vychází z mnoha studií týmu autorů okolo D. Snowa a R. Benforda. Druhou část práce tvoří analýza rámování odpůrců i zastánců, přičemž práce klade důraz na dynamiku rámování, která je produktem vzájemné interakce mezi oběma stranami a proměnu rámování v čase.

Abstract:

The thesis analysis framing of social movement and counter-movement, which arose during the planned construction of DIY shop in one of the districts of Brno. The work is based on the theory of framing, the first step is the identification of opponents as a social movement and supporters of the DIY shop as a counter-movement which mobilized against them. Thesis builds on the definition of social movement provided by Diani (1992) and definition of counter-movement by Meyer and Staggenborg (1996). In second chapter of the theoretical part, theory of framing is presented. Framing theory is based on many studies by collective of authors around D. Snow and R. Benford. The seconed part of the thesis is analytical work, where framing of opponents and proponents is analyzed. Emphasis is put on the dynamics of framing, which is coming from the interaction between both part of the conflict and change of the framing over time.
