Relationships, confrontations, violence: The construction of identity in Hubert Aquin’s novels Prochain épisode and Trou de mémoire
Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to examine how the main characters of the novels Prochain épisode and Trou de mémoire – the first two novels of the Quebec author and political activist Hubert Aquin written during the 1960s – construct their identity throughout the novels, and symbolically how this reflects the events and movements of the period (the so called Quiet Revolution).
Abstract:
Táto práca rozoberá (prvé) dva romány quebeckého autora a politického aktivistu Huberta Aquina – Prochain épisode a Trou de mémoire, ktoré boli napísané v 60-tych rokoch dvadsiateho storočia, t.j. počas quebeckej Tichej revolúcie. Práca skúma otázku identity, predovšetkým spôsoby, akými postavy v spomínaných románoch utvárajú svoju identitu, ako aj odraz spoločensko-historických udalostí danej doby …more
