Unemployment in the context of educational attainment in selected regions of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na problematiku nezaměstnanosti v kontextu dosaženého vzdělání v Ústeckém kraji, v Olomouckém kraji a v Hlavním městě Praze v letech 2013-2021. V teoretické části práce je charakterizována nezaměstnanost, její druhy a dopady. Dále jsou zde vysvětleny pojmy jako trh práce, segmentace trhu práce, míra nezaměstnanosti, dopady nezaměstnanosti a státní politika zaměstnanosti. Popisuje také význam a funkci úřadů práce v České republice. Praktická část práce je zaměřena na nezaměstnanost v závislosti na vzdělání v konkrétních regionech. Je zde vypočítána průměrná míra nezaměstnanosti pomocí obecného vzorce pro tento výpočet. Uchazeči o zaměstnání v evidenci úřadu práce jsou rozděleni dle dosaženého vzdělání a následně je vypočtena průměrná míra vzdělanosti pomocí vlastní bodové škály. Na základě výpočtů vybraných statistických metod jsou potvrzeny nebo vyvráceny stanovené hypotézy o vlivu vzdělání na nezaměstnanost. Nejprve je tato závislost porovnávána v každém regionu jednotlivě a následně je porovnávána průměrná nezaměstnanost napříč regiony. Data jsou čerpána z oficiálních stránek Českého statistického úřadu a následně zpracována pomocí programu Microsoft Office Excel a statistického programu Statistica.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis is focused on the issue of unemployment in the context of educational attainment in the Ústí Region, the Olomouc Region and the Capital City of Prague in the years 2013-2021. In the theoretical part of the thesis, unemployment, its types and effects are characterized. Also terms such as labor market, labor market segmentation, unemployment rate, effects of unemployment and state employment policy are explained here. It also describes the importance and function of employment offices in the Czech Republic. The practical part of the work is focused on unemployment depending on education in specific regions. The average unemployment rate is calculated here using the general formula for this calculation. Job applicants in the records of the employment office are divided according to the level of education they have achieved, and then the average level of education is calculated through the use of its own point scale. Based on the calculations of selected statistical methods, established hypotheses about the effect of education on unemployment are confirmed or refuted. First, this dependence is compared in each region individually, and then average unemployment across regions is compared. The data are taken from the official website of the Czech Statistical Office and subsequently processed using the Microsoft Office Excel program and the statistical program Statistica.
