Yellow-spotted whiteface (Leucorrhinia pectoralis) as potential umbrella species

Abstract:

Palearktický druh Leucorrhinia pectoralis, tedy vážka jasnoskvrnná, je druhem chráněným soustavou Natura 2000. Na většině území Evropy se s ním můžeme setkat velmi vzácně a ani v České republice nemá tento druh zvlášť hojné zastoupení. Jedná se o stanovištního specialistu, přičemž limitujícím faktorem ovlivňujícím jeho výskyt je stojatá voda s poměrně stálou výškou vodní hladiny a bohatě rozvinutá litorální vegetace. Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo zjistit, zda by druh Leucorrhinia pectoralis mohl potenciálně sloužit jako deštníkový druh jiným ohroženým druhům vážek. Data k prozkoumání této hypotézy byla vybrána z Nálezové databáze ochrany přírody od roku 2008 do roku 2019 a byla zpracována prostřednictvím programu R-studio (verze 4.1.3.). V rámci mapovacích čtverců se zjišťovala přítomnost jednotlivých druhů. Pomocí vzorců se pak srovnávaly pravděpodobnosti výskytu jednotlivých druhů za či bez přítomnosti L. pectoralis. Rozdíly těchto pravděpodobností byly testovány pomocí testu na shodu proporcí. V neposlední řadě byl na základě Wilcoxonova testu proveden test rozdílu počtu výskytu ohrožených druhů ve čtvercích s a bez L. pectoralis. Na základě výsledků se ukázalo, že L. pectoralis pravděpodobně bude vytvářet deštník druhům, které se s ní vyskytují současně na dané lokalitě.

Abstract:

The Palaearctic species Leucorrhinia pectoralis, the bright-spotted dragonfly, is protected by the Natura 2000 system. The species is very rare in the vast majority of Europe, including the Czech Republic. It is a habitat specialist, and a stagnant water with a relatively constant water level and highly developed littoral vegetation is the limiting factor influencing its occurrence. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether L. pectoralis could potentially serve as an umbrella species for some other endangered dragonfly species. To do this, the data were collected in the Nature Conservation Findings Database of the Czech Republic (years 2008 to 2019), and they were processed by the R-studio program (version 4.1.3.). It was searched for the presence of the species in the squares using faunistic grid mapping system. Using formulas, the probabilities of the occurrence of individual species with or without the presence of L. pectoralis were compared afterwards. Differences in these probabilities were tested using the test of a proportionality agreement. Last but not least, the difference in the number of endangered species in squares with and without L. pectoralis was tested by the Wilcoxon´s test. Based on the results it seems that L. pectoralis is likely to create an umbrella for those species that occur at the given site in the same time.
