Selected physical geographical factors influencing the formation of avalanche processes in the central part of the Low Tatras and the analysis of avalanche threats

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate chosen terrain factors which contribute and influence the formation of avalanches. On the base of those factors we made thorough analysis of avalanche threats in the central massive of the Low Tatra Mts. We picked two model valleys on the north side, and three valleys on the south side of the main ridge. The analysis was preceded by analysis of morphometric characteristics based on the digital terrain model. We also characterised overall avalanche situation in our area and avalanche paths were put into categories according to frequency of their occurrence, morphology, and the type of threat and damage. The core of this thesis is statistical assessment of data from Avalanche Prevention Centre. We focused on chosen topographic characteristics of avalanche release zones with main goal to find out differences between south and north side of area and among the valleys as well. For this purposes we used methods of descriptive statistics, multidimensional statistics and non-parametric analysis of variance.

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je zhodnocení vybraných faktorů reliéfu ovlivňujících vznik lavin a analýza lavinového ohrožení v centrální části Nízkých Tater. Pro tento účel byly vybrány dvě modelové doliny na severní a tři na jižní straně vrcholového hřbetu. Vlastní analýze lavinového ohrožení předcházel mimo jiné rozbor morfometrických poměrů území na základě digitálního modelu reliéfu. Dále byla charakterizována lavinová situace obecně a lavinové dráhy byly zařazeny do kategorií podle četnosti výskytu lavin, morfologie a druhu ohrožení a škod. Těžiště práce představuje statistické vyhodnocení dat ze Střediska lavinové prevence se zaměřením se na vybrané topografické parametry odtrhových pásem lavin. Cílem bylo odhalit rozdíly či podobnosti mezi severní a jižní stranou území, jakož i mezi jednotlivými dolinami. Aplikované byly metody deskriptivní a vícerozměrní statistiky a také byla provedena neparametrická analýza rozptylu.
