"Inkheart" by Cornelia Funke - film adaptation by contrast to the book

Abstract:

This thesis deals with a book from German writer Cornelia Funke ?Inkheart? and its screen adaptation. This thesis compares the book with its screen adaptation. It shows the differences between the book version and the film adaptation. Chapters with interpretation of the book and the film are included. They explain the leading motif and topics of the book. Also one chapter deals with the author herself, with her person and work. At the end of this thesis is a confrontation between all differences from the book and from the movie version. There is also explanation, why those differences have been made and if they are important and stepping into the whole meaning of the book. I´ve tried to show why exactly this work from Cornelia Funke is so important for German literature and also for the world children literature. The evaluation of the movie was also expressed.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá srovnáním knižní předlohy "Inkoustové srdce" a jejím filmovým zpracováním. Práce představuje autorku Cornelii Funke a její tvorbu, poukazuje na úspěch celé trilogie "Inkoustového světa", interpretuje román a jeho hlavní postavy a interpretuje jeho filmové zpracování. Dále se zabývá srovnávací analýzou rozdílů filmu s knižní předlohou.
