Occurence of common starling (Sturnus vulgaris) in the South Moravian Region and its potential impact on vine growing

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřovala na získání a zpracování dat, ze kterých byl pak vyhodnocen výskyt a dynamika populace špačka obecného v jednotlivých krajinných strukturách a okresech Jihomoravského kraje. Data použitá k analýze obsahovala 4101 údajů z faunistické databáze Birds, za roky 2012 až 2018, tedy v rozmezí 7 let. Data pak byla v kombinaci s ostatními daty vyhodnocena dvěma statistickými metodami, a to metodou BRT a GLS. Z výsledků vyplývá, že špaček obecný preferuje zemědělskou krajinu s velkými plochami vinic a ovocných sadů. Negativně ho ovlivňují zalesněné oblasti, urbanizovaná a uniformní krajina. Cílem práce bylo také oslovení pěstitelů vinné révy za účelem zjištění škod způsobených tímto ptákem na vinné révě a jejích metodách ochrany. Z výsledků vyplynulo, že nejpoužívanějším typem ochrany jsou plynová děla, pohyb lidí ve vinicích a využití vyhlášky č. 294/2006 Sb. Při regulaci škůdců je ale nejdůležitější vytvořit vyrovnaný a dobře fungující ekosystém, který se bude sám regulovat.

Abstract:

The thesis focused on data acquisition and processing, from which the occurrence and dynamics of the common starling population in individual landscape structures and districts of the South Moravian Region were evaluated. The data used for the analysis contained 4101 data from the faunistic database Birds for the years 2012 to 2018, in the range of 7 years. The data were then evaluated in combination with other data by two statistical methods, BRT and GLS. The results show that the common starling prefers agricultural landscape with large areas of vineyards and orchards. He is negatively affected by wooded areas, urbanized and uniform landscape. The aim of this thesis was also to address the vine growers in order to find out the damages caused by this bird on the vine and its methods of protection. The results showed that the most used types of protection are gas cannons, movement of people in vineyards and the use of the Decree No. 294/2006 Coll. However, the most important thing in pest management is to create a balanced and well-functioning ecosystem that regulates itself.
