Reform of Armed Forces of Russian Federation in 2008 - 2016

Abstract:

Here presented diploma thesis deals with the process of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation reform following after 5-day military conflict with Georgia in August 2008. The thesis tracks chronological development of reform in 2008-2016 with focus on unit´s organization and command aspects, modernization of equipment of selected army branches, financial issues concerning the reform and last but not least on changes in operational-tactical code of conduct of the Russian Army. A reform state achieved so far is later evaluated through the optic of recent and current Russian Army engagements in Ukraine and Syria. A conclusion contains summary of contemporary reform progress and state, it also identifies several complications that might negatively affect its further progression in the near future.

Abstract:

Predkladaná diplomová práca sa zaoberá procesom reformy Ozbrojených síl Ruskej federácie nasledujúcej po 5-dňovom vojnovom konflikte s Gruzínskom v auguste 2008. Práca sleduje chronologický vývoj reformy v rokoch 2008 - 2016 so zameraním na aspekty organizácie a velenia jednotiek, modernizácie vybavenia vybraných druhov vojsk, finančnými otázkami zabezpečenia reformy a v neposlednom rade zmeny v operačno-taktických postupoch ruskej armády. Doposiaľ dosiahnutý stav reformy hodnotí optikou pôsobenia ruskej armády v nedávnych a súčasných konfliktoch na Ukrajine a v Sýrii. Záver práce obsahuje zhrnutie doterajšieho priebehu a stavu reformy a taktiež identifikuje niekoľko komplikácii, ktoré budú pravdepodobne v blízkej budúcnosti negatívne ovplyvňovať jej ďalší priebeh.
