Evolution of the Morava river branches between villages Rohatec and Týnec from the year 1450 to present

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje rekonstrukci vývoje říční sítě a okolní nivní krajiny řeky Moravy v zájmovém úseku mezi obcemi Rohatec a Týnec. Řeka Morava je v této oblasti hraničním tokem, který již historicky odděloval Moravu a Slovensko. Popis vývoje ramen Moravy byl zpracován pro obě strany nivy. Cílem této práce je vytvořit sérii map zachycující proměny nivy v řešeném území. Pro analýzu říční sítě byla využita historická kartografická díla a dobové zápisy literatury. V práci se tak objevuje popis vývoje vodních toků a částečně i okolní krajiny od roku 1450, ke kterému se vztahují záznamy hraničních sporů. Jako nejstarší mapový podklad byla využita Fabriciova mapa Moravy (1569). Dobová mapová díla byla získána v analogové nebo digitální podobě v archivech 4 států. Výsledná sekvence map začíná rokem 1723 a dále zachycuje období kolem roku 1750; v roce 1827; v období 1875 – 1885; ve 30. letech 20. století; v 60. letech 20. století; v 80. letech 20. století a současnou podobu oblasti. Staré mapy byly georeferencovány vhodnými metodami v prostředí GIS a následně vektorizovány, výsledná mapová kompozice byla vytvořena v měřítku 1 : 25 000. Nově vytvořené mapy velmi dobře reprezentují historický vzhled nivy a její proměny podmíněné hlavně antropogenní zásahy. Práce zachycuje postupné vysoušení inundační oblasti, kdy především v minulém století docházelo k přeměně travnatých porostů v ornou půdu, která byla spojená se zrychleným zazemnění vedlejších ramen v nivě. Ve 20. století došlo i k napřímení hlavního ramene Moravy, jehož úpravy byly dokončeny v 70. letech. Výsledky práce přináší významnou inventarizaci vodních prvků v čase. Zjištěné závěry by měly zajistit snadnější identifikaci starší podoby nivy v širší oblasti velkomoravského hradiska Mikulčice-Valy, jenž usiluje o zápis do Seznamu světového kulturního a přírodního dědictví UNESCO.

Abstract:

This thesis‘ primary goalis a reconstruction of the development of river Morava's network and its adjacent fluvial landscape in the area between villages Rohatec and Týnec. The river Morava is a border river, which historically separated Moravia and Slovakia. The description of evolution Morava's distributaries was conducted for both sides of the floodplain. The goal of this thesis is to create a series of maps, capturing the changes of the chosen area's alluvia. historical cartography materials and reports in contemporary literature were used for the analysis of the river's network. Therefore, the thesis describes the evolution of the watercourse its surrounding landscape, starting with the year 1450, as there are records of border disputes dated to the mentioned year The oldest map source used was the Fabricio's map of Moravia from the year 1569. Used historical maps were in both analog and digital form from the archives of four countries. The resulting sequence of maps starts with the year 1723; then the period around year 1750; 1827; the period between 1875 and 1885; the thirties of the 20th century; the sixties of the 20th century; the eighties of the 20th century and finally, the current landscape state of the area. The old maps were georeferenced using appropriate methods in the GIS environment and then vectorized. The resulting map composition is in the scale of 1 : 25 000. These newly created maps reliably represent the historical look of the alluvia and its changes were determined primarily by anthropogenic interventions. The thesis shoows gradual drying up of the inundation area, which was transformed from grassy fields into cropland, mostly during the past century, which resulted in an accelerated fill of adjacent alluvial distributaries. In the 20th century, the channel of the Morava's main branch was straightened. This project was completed during the seventies. The outcomes of this thesis offer a inventorisation of water elements in time. The resulting findings should provide an easier identification of the older image of alluvia in the wider area of Archeopark Mikulcice-Valy, which is currently trying to become one of the world cultural and natural heritage sites of UNESCO.
