Methodology for prediction of hardness and hardening depth during hybrid surface hardening

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá predikcí tvrdosti a hloubky prokalení při povrchovém kalení za pomoci matematických modelů. Důraz této práce je kladen na sestavení matematického modelu popisující zmíněnou technologii, jeho numerické řešení a ověření výsledků pomocí provedeného experimentu. V úvodu práce jsou uvedeny základní informace popisující technologii indukčního a laserového kalení a popsány závislosti predikovaných parametrů na vstupních podmínkách. Diplomová práce také poskytuje úvod do nejčastěji používaných zkoušek měření tvrdosti. V následující části jsou formulovány základní matematické vztahy popisující rozložení elektromagnetického a teplotního pole a postup vytvoření matematického modelu pomocí aplikace COMSOL Multiphysics?. Těžištěm této práce je vytvoření jednotlivých modelů, poukázání na změny sledovaných parametrů v závislosti na rozdílných vstupních hodnotách a vytvoření algoritmu umožňujícího predikci tvrdosti materiálu ze získaných nasimulovaných dat. V poslední části práce jsou představeny výsledky sestaveného matematického modelu a jejich porovnání s výsledky provedeného experimentu ve společnosti MATEX, PM s.r.o.

Abstract:

The topic of this diploma thesis is the mathematical model based predictions of material hardness and the hardening depth during hybrid surface hardening. The emphasis of this thesis is the setup of a mathematical model describing the mentioned technology, its numerical solution and confirmation of its results using experiments. The introduction of thesis contains basic description of the induction and laser hardening technology and the description of dependency of predicted parameters and entry conditions. The disseration also provides an introduction to the most used methods of hardness tests. The following part formulates the basic mathematical relations describing the layouts of electromagnetic and thermal fields and the procedure of creation of a mathematical model using the COMSOL Multiphysics? software. The emphasis of this thesis is then the creation of individual models refering to changes of examined parameters based on various input conditions and the creation of an algorithm that would allow the prediction of material hardness from the gathered simulation data. The last part of the thesis introduces the results of a compiled mathematical model and their comparison with results from the experiments done in cooperation with the company MATEX, PM s.r.o.
