Quantitative easing in the economic conditions of the eurozone and the US

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá účinností kvantitativního uvolňování v rozdílných ekonomických podmínkách eurozóny a USA. Důraz je kladen na analýzu monetár-ní a vyhodnocení přijatých opatření v rámci kvantitativního uvolňování. Sledován je zejména vliv na hlavní makroekonomické ukazatele. Kvantitativní uvolňování jako nekonvenční nástroj monetární politiky bylo poprvé použito japonskou cen-trální bankou. Následně tento nestandardní nástroj použila Bank of England a posléze také Fed. Evropská centrální banka použila kvantitativní uvolňování zatím jako poslední centrální banka. Tato práce je zaměřena na Fed a Evropskou cen-trální banku. Cílem je odpovědět na otázku, zda vyšší provázanost monetární a fiskální politiky vede k vyšší účinnosti kvantitativního uvolňování.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the effectiveness of quantitative easing in different economic conditions of the eurozone and the US. Emphasis is placed on the mone-tary analysis and the evaluation of the measures taken within quantitative easing. In particular, the effect on main macroeconomic indicators is monitored.Quantitative easing as a non-conventional monetary policy instrument was first used by the Japanese central bank. Subsequently, this non-standard tool was used by the Bank of England and later by the Fed. The European Central Bank has used quantitative easing as the last central bank. This work is focused on the Fed and the European Central Bank. The aim is to answer the question whether greater interdependence between monetary and fiscal policies leads to a higher efficiency of quantitative easing.
