Diffraction ellipsometry

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá studiem polarizačních vlastností dvourozměrné difrakční mřížky. Zkoumáme stav polarizace zrcadlově odraženého nultého difrakčního maxima pro rozsah úhlů natočení vzorku (vzhledem k normále k povrchu) při pevném úhlu dopadu. Měření provádíme na ručním elipsometru. Používáme rozšířenou elipsometrickou metodu k určení tří komplexních parametrů optického systému. Pro studovaný problém jsme vytvořili analytický model. Anizotropní vrstvu difrakční mřížky pokládáme za směs dvou materiálů a tuto vrstvu popisujeme s pomocí aproximace efektivního prostředí. Dosáhli jsme částečného souhlasu mezi experimentálně a analyticky získanými hodnotami. Získané výsledky diskutujeme.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with polarization properties of a two-dimensional diffraction grating. We examine the polarization of the speculary reflected zero-order beam for a range of azimuths (with respect to a surface normal) at one angle of incidence. Experimental results are obtained using a null ellipsometer. We use generalized ellipsometry for the measurement of three complex parameters of an optical system. For the studied problem, an analytical model has been created. We suppose that the anisotropic layer of the grating is a mixture of two materials and the layer was described using an effective medium approximation. Partial agreement between experimental and calculated optical parameters is obtained and the results are discussed.
