European Green Deal policy and its implementation in the Moravian-Silesian region

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem politiky European Green Deal (EGD) na Moravskoslezský kraj (MSK) - ta má za cíl Evropskou Unii transformovat na klimaticky neutrální společnost a ekonomiku do roku 2050. Předpokládaný dopad této politiky na uhelný a průmyslový MSK je významný. MSK je metodologicky zkoumán v rámci případové studie ve třech oblastech - energetice, průmyslu a mobilitě. Tato práce představuje politiku EGD, model oběhového hospodářství a analyzuje výchozí stav MSK. Cílem je shrnout dosavadní poznatky a předestřít oblasti, kterých se EGD nejvíce dotkne. Výsledky analýzy dokazují nevýhodnou pozici energetiky a průmyslu MSK. Z hlediska energetiky může kraj přijít až o 77 % zdrojů při výrobě elektřiny a 65 % zdrojů při výrobě tepla. Přechod průmyslu na klimatickou neutralitu může zapříčinit zvýšení nezaměstnanosti. Naopak mobilita MSK vykazuje pokročilý stupeň přechodu na inteligentní a udržitelnou mobilitu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the influence of the European Green Deal policy (EGD) on the Moravian-Silesian Region (MSR) - it aims to transform the European Union into a climate-neutral society and economy by 2050. The expected impact of this policy on the coal industry and heavy industry oriented MSR is significant. The MSR is methodologically examined in a case study in three areas - energy, industry and mobility. This work introduces the EGD policy and the model of circular economy and analyses the initial state of the MSR.The aim is to summarize the findings to date and to highlight the areas most affected by the EGD. The results of the analysis prove the unfavorable position of MSR's energy and industry. In terms of energy, the region can lose up to 77 % of resources in electricity production and 65 % of resources in heat production. The transition of industry to climate neutrality may lead to an increase in unemployment. In contrast, MSR's mobility shows an advanced degree of transition to smart and sustainable level.
