On the theme of Saints Cyril and Methodius

Abstract:

Předmětem zájmu této bakalářské diplomové práce byla česky psaná barokní neboli raněnovověká homiletika s přihlédnutím k významu cyrilometodějské tradice. Práce obsahuje shrnutí dosavadního bádání o cyrilometodějských kázáních, charakteristiku kázání a postil, a to zejména postil ze 17. a 18. století. Z raně novověkých postil pak byly vybrány dvě, Postila katolická Matěje Václava Šteyera a Vitae Sanctorum 1696. Komparací těchto dvou postil byla dokázána nejen dobová závaznost textů z Vitae Sanctorum, ale také váženost soluňských bratrů, která se táhne od nejstarších dob až do doby moderní.

Abstract:

The focus of this thesis work was Baroque or early modern homiletics written in Czech, which is taking into account the importance of Cyril and Methodius tradition. The work contains a summary of research on Cyrillo-Methodian sermons and sermon and postil characteristics, especially postils from the 17th and 18th centuries. From the early modern postils then were selected two: Matthew Vaclav Steyer's Catholic Postil and Vitae Sanctorum 1696. Comparison of these two postils has demonstrated not only contemporary texts bindings of Vitae Sanctorum, but also respectability of Cyril and Methodius that stretches from ancient times to the modern era.
