The Perception of the Hasidic Tzadik in the Work of Jiří (Georgo) Mordechai Langer: A Twofold Quest of Identity

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývala otázkou percepce chasidského cadika v díle Jiřího Langera na pozadí jeho homosexuální orientace. Na základě analýzy pramenů byl koncept chasidského cadika v díle Devět bran: Chasidů tajemství porovnán s konceptem chasidského cadika zachyceným v sekundární literatuře. Svou percepcí chasidského cadika a tím, jak byl ovlivněn samotným chasidismem, do jisté míry formuje nejen vlastní, ale i komunitní židovskou identitu na historickém pozadí asimilace. Tato práce může pomoci rozšířit bádání o chasidismu na pozadí asimilace v českém prostředí. Svým přesahem do literární vědy může pomoci badatelům, kteří se zajímají o Jiřího Mordechaje Langera jako česko – židovského autora.

Abstract:

This thesis dealt with the question of perception Hasidic zaddik in the work of Jiri Langer on the background of his homosexual orientation. Based on the analysis of the sources, the concept of Hasidic zaddik in the work of the Nine Gates: The Hasidim secret, is compared with the concept of Hasidic zaddik captured in secondary literature. By his own perceptions of Hassidic zaddik and how he was influenced by Hasidism itself, he shapes not only his own identity, but also shapes a Jewish identity of community, both on the historical background of assimilation. This work may help to expand research on Hasidism on the background of assimilation in the Czech environment. Its interference in literary studies may help researchers, who are interested in George Mordechai Langer as a Czech - Jewish author.
