The thesis focuses on the impact of Turkey's changing national identity under AKP leadership on the country's foreign policy and geopolitics in the Middle East. Using case studies that employ tracing methods, it analyzes Turkey's interactions with the Muslim Brotherhood, the participants in the Syrian civil war, and the Kurdish question.
