OSA 9 - Take a Tram to the Cinema. A joint distribution project of Prague cinemas Aero, Evald, MAT, and Světozor

Abstract:

Tématem práce je problematika distribuce filmů. Úvodní část pojednává o situaci v oblasti distribuce filmů na území České republiky od počátků kinematografie do současnosti. Těžištěm práce je popis projektu nazvaného OSA 9, v jehož rámci se spojila pražská kina Aero, Evald, MAT a Světozor ke spolupráci při distribuování filmů ve svých kinech. Tato část práce blíže rozebírá, kdy a proč projekt vznikl, jak z projektu OSY 9 mohou těžit zúčastněná kina, distributoři či diváci, jaké filmy jsou prostřednictvím OSY 9 distribuovány i jakým způsobem je projekt veřejně propagován. Text dále obsahuje kapitoly věnované jednotlivým kinům, která se projektu účastní. Seznamuje čtenáře s jejich historií, programovým profilem a dalšími charakteristickými aktivitami. Práce je doplněna přílohami textovými (seznam filmů distribuovaných prostřednictvím OSY 9, rozhovor s Ivo Andrlem, koordinátorem OSY 9) a obrazovými (ukázky programů kin).

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the topic of film distribution. The introductory section describes the developments in film distribution in the Czech Republic from its early days to the present day. The paper focuses on the description of a project named OSA 9 (AXIS 9 in English), in which Prague cinemas Aero, Evald, MAT, and Světozor joined forces in distributing films in their theatres. This section of the paper deals in detail with when and why the project started, the benefits of OSA 9 for the participating cinemas, distributors and cinema-goers, what films are distributed through the OSA 9, and how the project is promoted publicly. Furthermore, separate chapters of the paper deal with the constituent cinemas participating in the project. The reader learns about their history, programming profiles, and other characteristic activities. The paper is supplemented with written annexes (list of films distributed through the OSA 9; an interview with Ivo Andrle, the OSA 9 co-ordinator) and graphic annexes (example cinema playbills).
