The impact of e-Government on competitiveness of Estonia

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá zavedení elektronické veřejné správy neboli e-governmentu jako faktor přímo ovlivňující celkovou konkurenceschopnost země. Je tak učiněno na příkladu Estonska, které je v důsledku vysoké míry rozšíření digitalizace považováno za průkopníka této oblasti. Teoretická část práce vymezuje pojem e-governmentu společně s metodikou měření míry jeho úrovně. V obdobném duchu jsou popsána i teoretická východiska konkurenceschopnosti. Praktická část práce se zaměřuje na vývoj a současnou podobu e-governmentu v Estonsku. Na tuto část navazuje analýza vztahu e-governmentu ke konkurenceschopnosti provedená na základě žebříčků vydávaných mezinárodně uznávanými institucemi.

Abstract:

This master‘s thesis researches implementation of e-government as a factor directly influencing the overall competitiveness of a country. The research is carried out on the example of Estonia, which has become a pioneer of this field due to its extensive expansion of digital services. The theoretical part of the thesis is defining the concept of e-government together with the methodology behind e-government level measurement. The theoretical background of competitiveness is presented in a similar manner. The practical part focuses on the development and the current form of e-government in Estonia. This part is followed by an analysis of the relation of e-government to competitiveness based on indices published by internationally recognized institutions.
