The square as specific urban space

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá náměstím, jako specifickým urbánním prostorem, s akcentem na jeho prostorové uspořádání. Nejprve se věnuje historickému a urbanistickému vývoji měst a městského osídlení v průběhu dějinného vývoje, od nejstarších měst starověkých až po naši současnost. Dále zkoumá pojem město a jeho definici z různých hledisek, hlavně z hlediska jeho prostorového uspořádání. Jsou v ní uvedeny typologie a funkce města od různých autorů. Ve stěžejní části práce je vymezeno centrum města, tedy náměstí, jako zásadní veřejný prostor v rámci měst. Nejdříve je věnována pozornost širšímu pojetí náměstí, jakožto veřejného prostoru, kde jsou uváděny definice, typologie a funkce těchto prostorů v rámci měst, jimiž se u nás zabývá zvláště architektka Vladimíra Šilhánková. Poté je soustředěna pozornost na prostor náměstí, kde je charakterizován historický vývoj, jednotlivé klasifikace, funkce a aktivity, jež jsou na náměstích vykonávány. Poslední kapitola se zabývá náměstími v Uherském Hradišti, která měla svůj osobitý historický vývoj. Jsou charakterizovány jednotlivé pamětihodnosti, jež se zde nacházejí a také společenské aktivity, které jsou zde provozovány.

Abstract:

In graduation thesis I deal with square as a specific urban space, and focus primarily on its layout. First, I determine the urban development of cities and urban settlement in the course of historical development, from the earliest ancient cities to our present. Further investigate the concept of the city, and its definition, from different poin of view, mainly in terms of its layout. I present typology of the city by different authors, which also distinguishes diverse functions of cities. In the central section is defined the center of the city, the square, as a major public space within cities. First, I deal with a broader notion of the square as a public space where I present definitions, typology and function of these areas within cities, which are specifically addressed in our architect Vladimíra Šilhánková. Then is attention pointed on the square, where I describe the historical development, individual classification, functions and activities that are carried out in the streets. In the last chapter I write about the squares in Uherske Hradiste, which had its own unique historical development. Characterizing the different sights to be found there as well as social activities, which are taken place.
