The Victorious February Theatre in the period of normalization 1968-1989

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje dvaceti letům historie královéhradeckého divadla, a to období 1968 – 1989. Nejprve popisuje historicko- společenský kontext, stručně uvádí širší historický pohled na institucionalizované divadlo v Hradci Králové, vymezuje terminologii spojenou s obdobím tzv. normalizace, kterou dále periodizuje, zabývá se pramennou základnou tohoto období a především dopadem politických a společenských okolností na divadlo. Dále se věnuje dramaturgii a hracím prostorům Divadla Vítězného února v letech 1968 - 1989, osobnostem režisérů Miroslava Vildmana, Jana Grossmana, Miroslava Krobota, Josefa Krofty. Reflektuje také politické zásahy do personálních záležitostí. Stěžejním pramenem práce jsou rozhovory s pamětníky tohoto období, jejichž vzpomínkami práce doplňuje historické a teatrologické poznatky.

Abstract:

This work examines 20 years of history of the Theatre of Victorious February in Hradec Králové between the years 1968-1989. The first part gives an account of the historical and social background, briefly introduces the wider historical perception of “institutionalised” theatre in Hradec Králové. Based on the relevant literature and other available sources, it defines terminology related to the era of “normalisation”, which is then divided in sub-periods, and in particular investigates what impact political and social circumstances had on the theatre. In the second part it analyses performing spaces at the Theatre of Victorious February in the years 1968-1989, its dramaturgy and work of influential directors such as Jan Grossman, Miroslav Krobot, Josef Krofta. It inspects also how politics happen to intervene with personal matters. The main source of this work are interviews with those who closely remember this period, and whose memories are incorporated into and compared with the historical and theatrological findings.
