The analysis of competition on the retail market in selected area

Abstract:

Předmětem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat konkurenci na maloobchodním trhu ve zvolené oblasti. Autorkou byla zvolena maloobchodní jednotka Billa, která je umístěna na Mánesově ulici v Českých Budějovicích. Cílem bakalářské práce je stanovit největší konkurenci a navrhnout určitá opatření, která by dopomohla společnosti zlepšit své postavení na trhu. Práce je rozdělena na dvě hlavní části. První část bakalářské práce je teoreticko-metodologická, která objasňuje veškeré důležité pojmy související s daným tématem. Jedná se o pojmy obchod a jeho vývoj v České republice, maloobchod a druhy maloobchodu, maloobchodní organizace, konkurence, konkurenční výhody a charakteristika jednotlivých analýz. V závěru teoreticko-metodologické části jsou uvedeny zvolené výzkumné otázky a zpracovaná metodika práce. Druhá část bakalářské práce zahrnuje aplikační část. V této části byla popsána zvolená obchodní jednotka a následně i její konkurenti. Dále byly zpracované předem vybrané analýzy, kterými jsou analýza konkurence, metoda strategických map a Porterův model pěti konkurenčních sil. V závěru aplikační části je zpracovaná diskuse výsledků a také jsou zde uvedeny výsledky z dotazníkového šetření, díky kterému mohly být zodpovězeny položené výzkumné otázky. Opatření, která byla navržena, mohou pomoci vybrané obchodní jednotce zlepšit svůj současný stav a zajistit si stabilní místo na maloobchodním trhu.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the competition in the retail market in the chosen area. The author chose the retail unit Billa, which is located in Mánesova street in České Budějovice. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to determine the greatest business rivals and to suggest some measures which could help the company to improve its market position. The bachelor thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part of the bachelor thesis is theoretical and methodological part, which explains all important terms related to the topic. The terms are trade and its development in the Czech Republic, retail trade and types of retail trade, retail organizations, competition, competitive advantages and characteristics of the particular analyses. In the end of the theoretical and methodological part there are described chosen research questions and processed methodology of the thesis. The second part includes the application part. This part describes the chosen business unit and its business rivals. There are also described previously chosen analyses, which are competitive analysis, strategic method maps and Porter's five forces model. In the end of the application part there is made the discussion of the results and also the questionnaire results, which helped answer the research questions. The measures, which were suggested, can help the chosen business unit to improve its current situation and to provide a stable position in the retail market.
