Abstract:

This thesis deals with the boom of the new religious movements in 1960s, when many new religions emerged in the United States (and the world itself) and found their followers. It provides the most important features and influences of this reality, and popularity of the new religions, groups that were previously submerged and subordinated. It handles issues of the Hippie movement, the African-American Movement, the Civil Rights Movement and other historical and cultural points, as well as the theories of the origin of the new religious groups in the era, when the dominant churches could not follow the changes in the society.

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vznikem a vzestupem nových náboženských hnutí v šedesátých letech v USA, kdy se objevila celá řada nových náboženství, které si relativně jednoduše našly své přívržence. Zaměřuje se na nejdůležitější události, hnutí, prvky a vlivy, které právě v tomto desetiletí pomohly vyvolat výrazně vyšší vznik nových náboženských hnutí, i na popularitu, která se jim dostala. Dále se práce zabývá problematikou náboženských skupin a teorií vzniku nových náboženských skupin - převážně v době, kdy hlavní církev nestačila reagovat na neustálé změny ve společnosti.
