Learning French as a bilingual child: the example of The Czech Republic

Abstract:

The thesis deals with bilingual education and other aspects related to this topic. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters, where the topic of the first chapter is to state bilingualism, typology, or different perspectives in general, the second chapter focuses specifically on language acquisition, and the third chapter on different aspects of bilingual education. The practical part of the thesis is devoted first to research on bilingual families and children and then to institutions and their methods of teaching French-Czech children. The aim of the practical part and the research itself is to confirm or refute the hypotheses set out.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o bilingvní výuce a dalších aspektech s tímto tématem spojených. Teoretická část je rozdělena na tři kapitoly, kdy tématem první kapitoly je uvést bilingvismus, typologii nebo různé pohledy obecně, druhá kapitola se zaměřuje konkrétně na osvojování jazyka a třetí kapitola na různé aspekty bilingvního vzdělávání. Praktická část práce se nejprve věnuje výzkumu bilingvních rodin a dětí, a poté institucím a jejich metodám výuky u francouzsko-českých dětí. Cílem praktické části a samotného výzkumu je potvrdit nebo vyvrátit stanovené hypotézy.
