The triangle in Czech textbooks through the ages

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na historický vývoj výuky jedné oblasti geometrie, a to na příkladu, jak byl v průběhu času prezentován koncept trojúhelníku v matematických učebnicích. Práce zkoumá, jak se výklad trojúhelníků proměnil od 19. století do současnosti a jak tyto změny odrážejí vývoj pedagogických metod a očekávání výsledků vzdělávání. Kromě analýzy textového obsahu učebnic, jejich ilustrací a přístupu k řešení úloh Výzkum ukazuje, že proměny v učebních osnovách a metodikách výuky geometrie nejen odrážejí pedagogické trendy, ale také širší kulturní a technologické změny ve společnosti. Práce je založena na analýze historických a současných učebnic a doplněna o přehled pedagogických textů a vzdělávacích studií, což umožňuje komplexní pohled na téma a poskytuje základ pro další diskusi o efektivitě současných vzdělávacích praktik v oblasti matematiky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the historical development of the teaching of one area of geometry, specifically how the concept of the triangle has been presented in mathematical textbooks over time. The work examines how the explanation of triangles has evolved from the 19th century to the present day and how these changes reflect the development of pedagogical methods and educational outcome expectations. In addition to analyzing the textual content of textbooks, their illustrations, and approaches to problem-solving, the research shows that changes in curricula and teaching methodologies in geometry not only reflect pedagogical trends but also broader cultural and technological changes in society. The thesis is based on the analysis of historical and contemporary textbooks and supplemented with a review of pedagogical texts and educational studies, which allows for a comprehensive view of the topic and provides a basis for further discussion on the effectiveness of current educational practices in mathematics.
