Abstract:

Práce obsahuje záznam ústní historie skupiny Gypsywood Players (divadelního spolku Katedry anglistiky a amerikanistiky Masarykovy univerzity) mezi lety 1977-1989 založený na osobních rozhovorech s bývalými členy společnosti. Teoretická sekce podává přehled o socio-historickém kontextu Československé socialistické republiky za doby tzv. ‘normalizace’ (1969-1989). Dále se pak v této části nachází popis československého amatérského divadla daného období. Praktická sekce se zaměřuje na způsob, jakým GWP fungovali jakožto herecká společnost, včetně aspektů předcházejících inscenaci i inscenace samotné. Dále pak práce obsahuje rozbor aspektů významu společnosti pro její členy, obecenstvo, i tehdejší katedru anglistiky. Zejména pak vliv na osobní vztahy a jazyk. Práce také pojednává o politickém vnímání spolku za doby komunismu s ohledem na hlavní cíle herecké společnosti a důsledky vystupování v anglickém jazyce.

Abstract:

The work contains an oral history record of the Gypsywood Players (a theatre company of the Department of English and American Studies of Masaryk University) in the period of 1977-1989 based on personal interviews with former members of the troupe. The theoretical section of the thesis provides an overview of the sociohistorical context of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in the period of ‘normalisation’ (1969-1989) as well as a description of Czechoslovak amateur theatre of the era. The practical section focuses on the way the GWP functioned as a company, including aspects of the pre-production and production process. Furthermore, aspects of significance of the troupe for the members, audiences and the English department of the time will be analysed with particular focus on personal relationships and language. Finally, the work discusses the political perception of the group in the Communist era with respect to the main aim of the company as well as the consequences of performing in English.
