Employment opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá možnostmi pracovního uplatnění osob s mentálním postižením. První kapitola obsahuje charakteristiku mentálního postižení, informace o přístupu k osobám s mentálním postižením od historie do současnosti a vzdělávání osob s mentálním postižením. V druhé kapitole nalezneme vymezení pojmů v problematice zaměstnávání, popis problematiky zaměstnávání osob s mentálním postižením u nás a v zahraničí a informace o poradenských službách a poskytování podpory. V třetí kapitole najdeme vlastní empirické šetření, které se snaží odpovědět na stanovené výzkumné otázky. Cílem práce je zmapovat situaci ohledně zaměstnávání osob s mentálním postižením a také seznámení se s veškerými možnostmi, které tyto osoby mají. Byly zjištěny neustále panující předsudky a neinformovanost společnosti, což způsobuje pomalejší růst pracovních možností pro osoby s mentálním postižením. Od společnosti je žádoucí větší ochota sžít se s těmito lidmi.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is concerned with the employment opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities. The first chapter contains the characteristics of intellectual disabilities, information about the approach to persons with intellectual disability, in history and now, and also information about educating persons with intellectual disability. In the second chapter, the key concepts of the employment issues are defined as well as the issues of employing persons with intellectual disabilities in the Czech Republic and abroad. There is also information about counselling services and assistance provision in the second chapter. In relation with the previous issues, the third chapter contains empirical research. The aim of the thesis is to explore and evaluate the situation concerning employing persons with intellectual disability and thoroughly review of their opportunities. It was found that there are still many prejudices in the less informed majority, which causes slower increase of job opportunities for persons with intellectual disability. Increasing efforts to integrate persons with intellectual disability is desirable from the society.
