Attitudes of Muslims towards the Roma minority

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Postoje muslimů k romské menšině“ se snaží nahlédnout do vztahů mezi muslimy a Romy v České republice. V prvé řadě zjišťuje, do jaké míry jsou muslimové o romské minoritě informováni, a jestli mají s Romy nějakou osobní zkušenost. Zabývá se také tím, jaké mínění mají muslimové o romské menšině, a jakým způsobem nahlížejí na romskou problematiku ve společnosti. Dále pojednává o tom, zda muslimové nacházejí nějaké společné znaky mezi svojí a romskou kulturou. Nechává muslimy přemýšlet nad způsobem života Romů, nad jejich hodnotami a přístupem ke vzdělávání. Dále jaké zaujímají stanovisko k Romům jako k rodičům a jak hodnotí postoje majority k romské menšině a její přístup k řešení romské otázky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis “Attitudes of muslims towards the Roma minority” aims to provide an insight into the relationships between Muslims and Roma people in the Czech republic. Primarily, it explores the amount of information Muslims have about Roma minorities and whether they have any personal experience with Roma people. It also regards Muslims perception of Roma people in the society and their stance towards the Roma minority issues within the society. Furthermore I have researched whether the Muslims can find any common features between Roma minority's culture and their own Muslim culture. The Muslims are confronted with Roma minority's way of life, values and attitude towards education. The Muslims are also asked about their view on Roma people as parents, and about the majority’s attitude towards the Roma minority as a whole and how the majority deals with the Roma question.
